Helen Matthes Library board members reorganized for the new fiscal year at this week's meeting.

Dannielle Harden will replace Rachael Fearday as co-president of the board, while Fearday will replace Harden as vice-president. Suellen Reimers will remain the other co-president. Charlene Topel and Jim Arndt will continue as board secretary and treasurer, respectively.

The Board approved a 3% salary increase for Library Director Amanda McKay to $50,003.18. Also approved was a payment of more than $581,000 to Poettker Construction for work on the new library project. McKay said the project is now 40% paid off, matching the amount of progress on the project, and said the payment was made with available resources and not by dipping into the library's line of credit.

Library board members also discussed finalizing an agreement with the Effingham County Genealogy Society to use space in the library. McKay noted the Genealogy Society has been using library space for decades, but there's never been a formal agreement. With the move into a new home, the Board thought it might be time for such an agreement.
