Coroner Says Preliminary Findings Indicate Veech Death Caused by Crash

Effingham County Coroner Duane Guffey said Sunday night that preliminary autopsy results indicate Joe Veech of Effingham died due to injuries he sustained in an automobile crash on the northwest side of Effingham Thursday evening.

The crash is being investigated, as Veech drove across lanes of traffic on Keller Drive before his collision with another vehicle.

An investigation into the crash continues by the Coroner's Office and by Illinois State Police. Final autopsy and toxicology results will be available within four to six weeks.
