The Lake Land College Board of Trustees has adopted a new logo and mascot for the college.

The mascot will be known as the "Vicious Mallard", associating waterfowl with the  "Lakers" sports team nickname.

Also approved was a new general logo for the college, as seen below...

The process of selecting the new logo and the new athletic logo and mascot is the outgrowth of a more than yearlong process involving various college constituencies.

Also this week, the Lake Land board approved a two-year contact extension for college president Josh Bullock through June 30, 2018; recognized retiring Board of Trustees member Carl Hart of Shelbyville for his six years of service; and honored the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce as the 2015 Business Partnership Award recipient.

Trustees agreed to begin four-day workweeks for the summer as of the week of May 18 and until the week of August 17; seated newly-elected Student Trustee Adam Doty of Beecher City who will also serve as the college's voice on radio and television messages for the school; recognized outgoing student trustee Christopher Walk of Neoga; hired Ryan Wildman of Mattoon as an Agriculture Business instructor; and hired Heidi Birdsong as a Nursing instructor.
