Southwestern Electric Cooperative members and their families are cordially invited to attend the co-op’s 74th Annual Meeting, which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 8 at Bond County Community Unit #2 Junior High School in Greenville, Ill. Doors will open at precisely 7 a.m. and breakfast will be served from 7 to 9:30 a.m., followed by the business meeting, beginning at 10 a.m.

The Annual Meeting offers members an opportunity to learn about the cooperative’s programs and services, speak with Southwestern Electric personnel, and receive select health screenings. There will be Bingo for adults and activities for children, including carnival games, prizes and Southwestern Electric’s Junior Lineman Challenge.

Active Southwestern Electric Cooperative accountholders are encouraged to vote in the co-op’s annual election, which will fill three open seats on the board of directors and determine one proposed amendment to the bylaws. The members will elect one director in each of the cooperative’s three voting districts. Candidates include:

District I (Macoupin, Madison and St. Clair Counties): Alan Libbra

District II (Bond, Clinton and Montgomery Counties): Ron Schaufelberger

District III (Clay, Fayette, Effingham, Marion and Shelby Counties): Ron Ragsdale and Randy Wolf

The official Election Day will be Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012. Voting will be available from 7 to 10 a.m. at Greenville Junior High School as well as at Southwestern Electric’s facilities in St. Jacob and St. Elmo, Ill. Absentee voting will be offered at the cooperative’s Greenville headquarters, during regular business hours, beginning on Aug. 24 and ending on Sept. 7. The Greenville office, which is located at 525 U.S. Route 40, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For more information on the Annual Meeting, including their official voter-registration card, co-op members are encouraged to review the September special edition of The Southwestern, which was mailed to every accountholder on Friday, August 24. They may also contact Director of Member Services Susan File at (800) 637-8667 or susan.file@sweci.com. Due to the co-op’s financial constraints, members will not receive a $20 bill credit for attending the 2012 Annual Meeting or voting in the election. Similarly, prize drawings will not be held during this year’s business meeting.
