Several hundred employees of the state of Illinois could be on the move if Governor Quinn takes action against correctional facilities slated for closure. The Tamms Correctional Center in Alexander County and Southern Illinois Adult Transition Center in Carbondale are among the facilities targeted to be closed.
Workers are still trying to determine the shake-out of Friday's ruling by a state arbitrator which found the state violated its collective bargaining agreement. The arbitrator said all sides must continue to negotiate for another month. If the closures do happen most of the workers would be transferred to other facilities across Illinois.
