The winner of the seventh season of NBC-TV's "The Voice" will be the headliner at this year's Effingham County Fair.

(CRAIG WAYNE BOYD)

Craig Wayne Boyd, who was a member of Team Blake on this season's competition, will appear at the fairgrounds at Altamont on Friday night, August 7. Opening for Boyd will be Broseph E. Lee, a group from Beardstown, Illinois.

Boyd is a Texan who has been involved in music since he was a child. He was drawn to gospel and country, and was active in his church choir, eventually becoming its director. He moved to Nashville in the early 2000s and landed a publishing deal with EMI, but after 10 years of trying, Boyd was on the verge of quitting music because of financial and other pressures. Everything changed when he auditioned for "The Voice". He became a fan favorite and eventually the overall winner.
