Students were evacuated from Neoga Middle School Friday afternoon when smoke was smelled in a hallway.

Neoga Superintendent Chuck Castle said officials are pretty sure a faulty light fixture was the cause of the smoke, and said there was no fire or damage to the building.

Castle said the students were evacuated as a precaution and said due to the cool and windy conditions, the students were moved to the high school building. He said the students were dismissed from there, but said the students can return to the middle school building for any items they need between 5:30 and 7pm tonight and between 8 and 10am Saturday.

Neoga and Sigel firefighters were called to the scene along with local law enforcement officers.
