Today is the deadline to register for the 3rd Annual Scarecrow Festival, sponsored by Helen Matthes Library and TREC.

The Festival kickoff will be this Saturday, October 25, from 10am to noon along the TREC trail.

For $20 per team or family, groups will receive one pumpkin, one scarecrow frame and stuffing material to make their personalized scarecrow. The sponsors invite families, co-workers and friends to get a team together. Teams are encouraged to take materials to dress their scarecrow head-to-toe, including markers, paints, clothing and anything else you might need to put your scarecrow together. Your scarecrow will then be displayed along the TREC trail through the fall season. On Saturday, participants are asked to park at the Effingham Performance Center and walk over to the trailhead, the main entrance to the trail.

You can register for the event at Helen Matthes Library. All proceeds will go to the library's building fund.
