The Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education Thursday acted on personnel matters and a student expulsion.

The Board hired Ellen Broom as district bookkeeper, moving to that position from other duties in the District office. Also employed was Robin Imburgia as nurse paraprofessional on a part-time basis and Stacey Hollinshead as a paraprofessional.

The Board accepted retirements from Lavonne Kemmerer as of the end of the 2016-17 school year and from Rhonda Hilligoss as of January 2, 2015, and approved a Family and Medical Leave Act leave for Rebecca Miller.

Board members also expelled a Unit 40 student through the end of the 2014-15 school year.
