(Springfield, IL) It doesn't look like lawmakers are any closer to reforming the state pension system today. Republican legislative leaders say no progress was made in reaching an agreement on revamping pensions when they met with Democratic Governor Pat Quinn this morning.

Republicans left the meeting saying they didn't know what Democrats were planning for this afternoon's special session on the subject. The GOP lawmakers want pension reform to include downstate teachers and university workers, as well as state employees and legislators. A bill pending in the House would only change pensions for Illinois lawmakers and workers.
