A Friday afternoon crash on 1800th Avenue north of Effingham involved a pickup truck carrying six youths that ran off the roadway and struck a power pole.

Effingham County sheriff's deputies report the pickup truck ran off the roadway just east of Wild Oaks Drive into a ditch. The pickup slid sideways and struck the pole on the driver's side. The vehicle then rolled over and became entangled in the wires from the downed pole with the wires wrapped around the vehicle.

Police say no one was seriously injured, but the impact knocked the power pole over and the truck ended up tangled in the power lines.

The sheriff's office did not release the names of the youths involved, but said the driver of the pickup truck, a 16-year-old boy, was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions and for improper lane usage. The passengers included a 15-year-old girl, two 15-year-old boys, a 14-year-old girl and another 16-year-old boy. All of those involved are from Effingham. All six, according to the police report, went to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for examination.
