There were 29 arrests made for driving under the influence and 66 other citations issued for alcohol related violations. District 12, which encompasses Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Marion, Lawrence and Richland counties, experienced four traffic fatalities for the month of January.

Fatalities are up 83 percent through the first six months of 2012. Thirty-three people have lost their lives on District 12 roadways so far this year. The problem areas are the rural, state and local higihways. Commander Fraser would like to remind everyone to avoid the fatal four, speeding, driving under the influence, failure to wear seatbelt and distracted driving.
