The first distribution of Effingham County property taxes for 2013 payable in 2014 was made today.
Effingham County Treasurer Steve Dasenbrock said an amount of $24,030,002.95 was distributed by direct deposit.
The five largest distributions were made to:
--Effingham Unit #40 School District--$7,466,266.45
--Teutopolis Unit #50 School District--$2,256,781.20
--Effingham County--$2,070,197.81
--City of Effingham--$1,823,487.19
--Lake Land College--$1,810,516.45
The smallest distribution went to St. Elmo Unit #202 School District, which has a small portion of property in Effingham County, and received $133.39.
The second installment of property tax is due Friday, November 7. Taxes may be paid at any bank in the county, mailed (and a due date postmark is accepted), paid online, or paid at the County Treasurer's Office located on the second floor of the County Office Building.
