Jimmy John's is warning of a possible data breach in some of it's stores. The company, headquartered in Champaign and founded in Charleston, reported on its website Wednesday that a "possible security incident involving credit and debit card data" had taken place.

The problem was found at 216 Jimmy John's corporate and franchised stores. The company says that between June 16 and September 5 of this year, customers credit and debit card data may have been compromised after a point of sale vendor reported that someone stole log-in credentials and subsequently used them to remotely access the terminals at the affected stores.

Neither Effingham or Mattoon's locations are impacted by the data breach because those stores haven't yet been upgraded to the POS terminals. However, transactions at Charleston, Champaign, Collinsville and many other stores in the region that took place during the affected dates may be at risk. Click here for the full list of affected locations and instructions from the company if you believe your card may be at risk.

Jimmy John's said the issues have been contained and measures taken to prevent further problems. The company said customers can continue using credit and debit cards in their stores.
