Skaters from throughout central and southern Illinois are expected Saturday at Hendelmeyer Park for the annual Ham City Jam.

The skateboarding will go on for most of the day. Local organizer Deano Tull said he's heard from people from as far away as Jacksonville and Decatur who are planning to attend. He's estimating as many as 300 people will be present for the event.

There will be food and fun for all ages, 20 who register will get a free t-shirt, and Monster Energy drink will be on hand. There will be bands, a DJ, food and an award for best trick in the competition with a first prize of $300.

Bike & Hike, oneighty, and the Effingham Convention and Visitors Bureau are among the sponsors for Saturday's event. More details are available on the Ham Jam's Facebook Event Page, located here.
