Favorable weather conditions allowed producers six days suitable for fieldwork in Illinois last week.
Activities included baling hay and spraying crops.
Statewide, precipitation averaged .45 inches, .45 inches below normal for the week. Average temperature was 71.9 degrees, 3.6 degrees below normal.
Corn silking reached 94%, ahead of the five-year average of 85%. Corn in the dough stage was rated at 25%, compared to the five-year average of 29%. Corn condition was rated at 82% good to excellent.
Soybeans blooming progressed to 83%, ahead of the five-year average of 72%. Soybeans setting pods reached 44%, ahead of the five-year average of 30%. Soybean condition was rated at 78% good to excellent.
Sorghum headed reached 39% and sorghum turning color was rated at 13%. Oats harvested reached 73%, ahead of the five-year average of 56%.
Pasture condition was rated at 1% very poor, 2% poor, 26% fair, 55% good, and 16% excellent. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 12% short, 82% adequate, and 6% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 1% very short, 16% short, 79% adequate, and 4% surplus.
