Neoga school board committees continue their work in efforts to boost funding and cut costs in light of financial uncertainties.

Superintendent Charles Castle led the Referendum Commitee report discussion. The deadline to get a referendum question on the November ballot is rapidly approaching. The Committee has a meeting scheduled for July 26.

Board member Chris Strohl gave an update on the activities of the Co Op committee.

Board member Julie Butler updated the Board on activities of the Facility Usage committee on an evaluation her committee has completed.

All three committees are waiting for a report from their architecture firm designed to assist them in making decisions.

Meanwhile, the Neoga board heard from Castle about grant proposals and health insurance, and approved the fee schedule for the coming school year. The Board also directed Castle to advertise the district schedule and hire on a temporary basis any positions that become open from resignations for the coming school year, awarded bids for various commodities, and decided against purchasing bus cameras after receiving bids on the cameras.

Also, discussion took place regarding placement of sports and activity procedures, and approved a co op agreement to be drawn up with the Stewardson-Strasburg district for cross country during the coming school year. The Board also hired Sue Hayton as a part time teacher for the coming year, and agreed to call back all current coaches at the discretion of Athletic Director Jeff Wooters for the coming year.
