The Effingham City Plan Commission Wednesday voted to recommend three rezoning requests for approval by the Effingham City Council.

One request was filed by the City, involving just over 23 acres of City-owned land south across Thies Avenue from John Boos and Company's new location off South US 45. The Plan Commission voted to recommend the Council rezone the tract from non-urban to light industrial district.

Another request was filed by Midland States Bank, on behalf of the Henry Grunloh Trust, which owns a tract of just over 25 acres of land directly north of Howell Asphalt Company, which is located off the northwest corner of Rickelman Avenue and North US 45. There is a prospective purchaser of the property, leading to the decision to seek a rezoning from non-urban to light industrial district.

The third request was filed by Brad Voyles, who would like about 5-1/2 acres of property at 15870 North 1400th Street rezoned from multiple-dwelling district to general commercial district. Voyles is considered an office building adjacent to The Glenwood.

There were no objectors to any of the requests.
