Jasper County board members Thursday approved an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Newton for enforcement along Eagle Trails.

The agreement gives the City police jurisdiction to police the part of the trail on the west side of the grade. Police will have authority to write tickets if violators are riding the trail on four-wheelers or for similar offenses.

Board members learned that work has been completed on the Fox and Crooked Creek bridges and the bridges are open.

The Board heard from Jasper Economic Development, who heard a presentation from Alexis Teichmiller earlier this month. Teichmiller has written a book and is writing her second book. She was part of the CEO Class in Effingham County while a student at Dieterich. Jasper County will be starting its own CEO Class for the coming school year.

Jasper board members also discussed the reorganization of Extension and the need to replace Bill Weber as a member of the board. Chairman Ed Mitchell is suggesting Everett Miller to fill the vacancy.
