Three Accidents Involving Injuries in Effingham

Three crashes resulting in injuries were reported in Effingham Monday afternoon and Tuesday.

A vehicle driven by 36-year-old Sarah Hernandez of Mt. Vernon backed into a pedestrian, 65-year-old Gregory Kemper of Effingham at 2:20pm Monday. The incident occurred at 1200 North Keller Drive.

Kemper was injured and was taken by private vehicle to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. No citations were issued.

A motorcycle was involved in a crash at Keller Drive and Avenue of Mid-America at 6:25pm Tuesday.

Police say a motorcycle driven by 68-year-old Dennis Blair of Effingham slid on an oil-based substance while making a turn. The cycle's tires then slid onto dry pavement, causing the unit to flip.

Blair was injured and was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's. No citations were issued.

A bicycle struck a vehicle at 9:08pm Tuesday at St. Anthony and 4th.

City police say the bicycle ridden by 12-year-old Joshua Burger of Effingham struck the vehicle driven by 34-year-old Rachel Arthur of Effingham. Burger was injured, but refused treatment. Arthur was cited for driving on an expired driver's license.
