Redistricting Initiative Dead for Now

The fight to change the way legislative districts are drawn in Illinois is over, at least for now.

The Yes for Independent Maps group says they're withdrawing their proposal and won't be calling on the state's Supreme Court to help them get the measure on the November ballot.

The decision comes after a Cook County judge ruled that ballot initiative was unconstitutional based on the way it was written. The group's leader says they're taking the judge's comments to heart, learning from their mistakes, and will give it another shot in two years.
