A New York woman has been arrested on a count of prostitution following a multi-agency investigation at a local business.

The Effingham Police Department received a complaint of prostitution occurring at the Star Spa, located at 702 North Keller Drive in Effingham. City police, with the assistance of the Illinois State Police, Meth Response Team and Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force conducted an undercover operation at the business. As a result of the investigation, 54-year-old Suncha K. Kim of Flushing, New York, was arrested on charges of prostitution.

A search warrant for the business was executed following the arrest, resulting in the seizure of additional items related to prostitution. It was determined that no one residing or working at the business possessed a valid license to perform massage therapy. The case is being forwarded to the Effingham County State's Attorney's Office as well as the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.

Authorities say additional charges are pending.
