High school students across Illinois will be getting a lesson on how to save lives once school bells ring again.

Governor Quinn has signed a bill that requires kids to learn CPR and learn how to use a defibrillator before they graduate high school. Parents can opt out if they don't want their kids in the courses.

The law will take effect next school year.
