Travel on the interstate through Effingham was back to normal by early afternoon Wednesday after a semi crash that caused a traffic tie-up.

The crash happened at 11:20am on I-70 westbound near the north tri-level.  A semi ran off the roadway and struck a guardrail, blocking one lane of travel.  The crash occurred in the construction zone and a concrete barrier there prevented vehicle turnarounds.  At one point, westbound traffic was being diverted off the interstate at Montrose and directed through Effingham.

The interstate was re-opened in both lanes at 12:49pm.  No one was injured.
