Work is underway today on the last piece of the I-57/70 project around Effingham.

Stage 1 will involve two lanes of traffic on I-57/70 separated from the workers by temporary concrete barriers, and exit and entrance ramps at the US 45 interchange will remain open at all times.

Work is also underway on replacing the bridges carrying I-57/70 over US 45.  Barring any unforseen circumstances, the work and traffic pattern should be in effect most of the remaining year.

McCarthy Improvement Company remains the prime contractor, and Steve Miller is the Resident Engineer for IDOT.

The work extends from 4th Street to the North Tri-level.

A reminder that cell phone use is prohibited in construction zones.
