Unlike much of government, the city of Effingham is operating within it's budget.

City Administrator Jim Arndt said in a release Wednesday that the proposed budget for fiscal year 2015, put together by the City Council at an annual budget workshop in collaboration with the City's department heads, will be the Effingham's fourth consecutive balanced budget.

The $71 million budget proposal contains $2.1 million for debt service obligations, $6.2 million to meet the City's reserve requirements, and $13.8 million for capital projects and purchases.

The proposed budget on file for inspection within the City Clerk's office.

The City Council will be conducting a public hearing on the budget at their April 1st meeting.
