Four oilfield workers were hurt in an explosion in southern Illinois.

The explosion happened in White County and authorities say three of the workers were seriously injured. They were badly burned and flown to hospitals in Evansville, Indiana. One was taken to a burn unit in Louisville, Kentucky. The fourth was not as seriously injured.

The workers had been welding when something caught fire, causing the explosion.  Firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire.

Investigators are looking to see exactly what caused the fire and explosion.
