People have been wondering what's causing the large cloud of smoke in the southern part of Effingham County today?

It's a controlled burn of Wildcat Hollow State Conservation Area.  The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is working with Watson Fire Department and Effingham County Sheriff's Department. Again, it's a controlled burn, but motorists have been concerned there's something wrong.

The cloud of smoke above the burn can be seen for several miles.
