Authorities continue their investigation into the death of a man in his home in the Lake Sara area.

An autopsy was conducted this week.  Preliminary results indicate the subject died due to natural causes and no foul play is suspected.  Final autopsy results and toxicology tests are pending.

A friend, checking on the welfare of the man, found him unresponsive about mid-morning Tuesday. Effingham City-County Ambulance and Shumway Fire Protection District were called and responded. Effingham County Coroner Duane Guffey was then summoned to the scene.  Guffey pronounced the man, whose name is not being released pending notification of next-of-kin, dead at 9:55am.

An investigation is continuing by the Effingham County Coroner's Office, Effingham County Sheriff's Department and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services.
